Having Full-time Jobs Without Nanny

Yes, it is possible. I am a full-time housewife with a full-time job, and we don’t have a nanny.

This has been our setup for more than 5 years and it has been very rewarding because I get to witness every milestone of my children. It started with a big decision I made last 2015– I left my job as a headline writer of a flagship newscast in GMA. Sophia was just 3 years old when we noticed that she was not speaking properly. A developmental pediatrician gave us confirmation that she had Language confusion disorder, possibly due to watching videos online exaggeratedly. I had to give up one of my jobs to be a full-time housewife, and it was all worth all the sacrifices because, after a year, Sophia learned to speak and express herself easily.

After a year, I was offered a position as a writer and eventually got promoted. You might want to ask how I can accept more work when I have to babysit my kids. My husband is also a full-time employee in our company. So, it is easy for us to fix our schedule. We have an agreement that he lets me work during the morning till noon, while he stays at home, and he has the afternoon-night shift. With that, we don’t need to hire a nanny to take care of our kids.

Long before this current setup, we had two nannies but I was not comfortable being watched plus I dread having limitations at home. It is not that I hate nannies but being with a stranger under the same roof is really detrimental to my mental state. So, as a result, we had to remove our nannies and work around what’s possible.

Aside from our full-time jobs, we also do side hustles such as JI Designs PH and my online writer gig on GMA International. Again, yes, it is possible to do all these without a house helper. The secret is that we internally delegate our duties. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed many employees to work from home, and as an online writer, I benefit from this arrangemenr and earn while watching over my kids.

So, if you are considering this kind of setup, you have to embrace doing full-time house chores, baby sitting and meeting work deadlines all at once. It is not an easy situation, but in the long run, you’ll get the hang of it.

Ito po ay isang katangi tanging gawain. Ang magtrabaho at mag alaga ng inyong mga anak. But it is worth the sacrifices kase you can be with your kids as they grow up. You can be there with every milestones they will accomplish.

Kudos mommy Catha for being so strong at nakakainspire po talaga kayo 😊
