I really felt the VIP vibe when I attended the advance screening of “As Long As We Both Shall Live,” a live adaptation of one of the most touching love stories from Japan, based on the best-selling Manga “My Happy Marriage.”
The scenes are very religious to that manga series by Akumi Agitogi.
Set to open in cinemas on November 29, 2023, an advance screening was arranged on November 27, 2023 at Cinema 1 VIP Theater of Vista Mall Taguig, hosted by Vista Cinemas, in partnership with Pioneer Films.
Adapted from the famous light novel series, As Long As We Both Shall Live is an epic tale about love and empowerment, with elements of action and fantasy. The movie stars Ren Meguro (from the J-pop band, Snow Man), with his fascinating personality, intense combat moves, and perfect silver hair, and Mio Imada from the live-action Tokyo Revengers series, and was directed by Ayuko Tsukahara.
VIP TREATMENT
Upon entering the VIP theater, we were offered a soft fleece cloth to warm us up inside the cinema. Then we were seated in front in a recling sofa, giving a homey vibe.
Foods were outpouring as we received a basket of popcorns, tacos, lemonade and sausage sandwich.
But the part is the sound and visuals the cinema offered. I was really astounded because I felt that as if the scenes are really happening right in front of me. Superb!
I had watched the anime series and the script and flow are similar to the live adaptation. Just a littlw twist about the conflict and battle scenes. But none the less, the movie is epic and I’m looking forward to the second season.
As Long As We Both Shall Live has a running time of 1 hour and 54 minutes, has been rated PG by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), and will be released by Pioneer Films.
SYNOPSIS
In a fictional Japan of Meiji Era, a time of remarkable civilization and enlightenment, people from families that have inherited special abilities [inou] have been protecting people from various disasters together with the emperor who rules the country. Miyo Saimori was from one of the prestigious families but born without the ability, and has lived her whole life being abused by her stepmother and half-sister. She is ordered to marry a ruthless soldier, Kiyoka Kudo, who leads the Alien Force at a young age, as a political ploy. True to the rumors that numerous potential fiancées had fled within three days, Kiyoka coldly told Miyo, “You must obey me here. If I tell you to leave, leave. If I tell you to die, you die.”
Miyo, who has no place to run away to, realizes during her stay at the Kudo household that Kiyoka is not the man he is reputed to be. Kiyoka is also touched by Miyo’s thoughtfulness, and the two eventually establishes a special bond with each other. A light shines on a political marriage that seemed to have no chance of happiness.
“I wanted to stay with this man for as long as possible…”
However, at the same time, a series of calamities struck the people of the Imperial Capital one after another. Kiyoka is ordered to be a shield for the people. Behind Kiyoka, who is fulfilling his duty, the devil’s hand is closing in on Miyo as well. Before long, a cruel fate mercilessly rips them apart…
