There is an important update on Japanese Visa Application Process which is making headlines and many travelers have raised their concerns about it.
As the country has seen an unprecedented surge in visa applications, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it prompts the Embassy of Japan to transition to a longer processing system, according to some travel agencies.
The Embassy of Japan recommends applying for tourist visas at least two months prior to the date of travel due to the high volume of applications.
The Embassy advised everyone that it cannot accommodate requests for:
– Early release of passports based on scheduled departure dates
– Status updates on ongoing applications
– Reasons for visa denial
As of February 5, the Embassy vows to return to 5-day processing time. “Please be informed that the Embassy will continue to make efforts to complete the procedures and return the visa within five working days, after it is submitted to the Embassy by the travel agencies,” it said.
